Job Description USA-MD-Bethesda Neuroimaging Bioinformatics Expert -------------------------------------- We are a leading provider of information technology services and solutions - including strategic consulting; systems design, development, and integration; and outsourcing and managed services - to clients in national security, civil government, and health care and public health markets. We deliver value to our clients by combining knowledge of their businesses with expertise across the information technology spectrum. Bioinformatics is part of our Health Research Systems offerings. The NIH is spearheading a large effort to develop a National Database for Autism Research (NDAR). This database will allow researchers to share their data and analyze data across domains to speed up the race to find the causes and cures for autism. This a system based on a federated data model a collaborative working environment that provides the infrastructre to handle data location, access and security. The primary tool sets available are for neuroimaging although other subject matter areas (clinical assessments and patient scheduling) are either available or under development. The BIRN consortium, now 19 universities and 26 research groups, are working on—and in—three “test bed” projects centered on brain imaging of human neurological disorders and associated animal models. We are looking for an individual to lead the development of the this software module for NIH's Center for Information Technology, under Government contract. This person will provide the following services to the project team and NDAR Imaging users: · Solicit input from the the imaging research community in order to schedule, attend and manage focus meetings with the appropriate representatives · Develop detailed functional requirements and design specification based on those meetings · Manage the implementation of the NDAR Imaging suite of applications, services and user interfaces. · Develop training materials for NDAR imaging consumers This person is expected to become the major technical resource for NDAR Imaging. A B.S degree (M.S, Ph.D., or M.D strongly preferred) in medical informatics, bioinformatics, bioscience, or computer science is required. Candidate will work on-site with a mixed contractor and government project team. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with multiple projects, rapidly shifting priorities and extremely tight deadlines. Tasks will be performed at NIH offices and facilities in the Bethesda, Maryland area. The successful candidate must have specialized skills and a proven track record in: · Software development (including Java, C/C++, Perl scripting: see · Project management and execution · Imaging software (especially neuroimaging) · A solid understanding of experimental design and research protocols Any of the following are strongly desired: · Object oriented software development · Working experience with MRI protocols · Working experience with clinical trials · Theoretical knowledge of neuroanatomy · Experience with MRI safety procedures, informed consent and HIPAA procedures · Computational and statistical methods for neuroimaging using tools such as SAS, MatLab, R, etc. All candidates must meet client approval, and will likely be required to obtain a Position of Public Trust clearance. Work will be performed at the government site. Candidates should be self-motivated and must be able to work independently with little supervision.
